Ford Kuga – A Smart SUV for Young and Old

11 August 2016

The Ford designers, engineers and tech team have a lot to be happy about with the new Ford Kuga. This model is an important vehicle in the Ford new car mix given the mid-size suv segments growing popularity and the new Kuga really ups the ante. The current stylish Ford Kuga range is extremely well thought out and takes into consideration a wide range of consumer needs without compromising comfort, performance or safety.

The car is so solid feeling and capable, you really feel like you and your loved ones are wrapped in a vehicle that could take on the world and in terms of safety, the Kuga probably could. All round airbags protect every passenger and the AWD* and torque control model continually adjusts torque to the optimum wheel every 16 milliseconds for superior cornering and traction.

The Ford design team considered the fact that the aging population and parents of young children want a car that is easy to get in and out of. The beauty of the Ford Kuga is the raised height makes it so easy to slide into the driver or passenger seats but it’s not too tall for young children to manage. Also, Ford has removed the need to fumble for your keys. The Kuga Titanium model has hands free door unlock, hands free power tailgate opening (just swipe your foot under the rear bumper and it opens like magic) and push button start.

The Kuga is as comfortable heading off to the bowls green as it is doing the school run, or the grocery shop, or even setting off for an adventurous holiday.  While certainly no Everest, you will find the exceptionally large rear storage area more than adequate.

If it’s the running costs that interest you, the option of not one but two, Ford Kuga MkII EcoBoost engines will put a smile on your face. Every last drop of fuel is maximized, with the EcoBoost engines delivering small engine fuel economy and big engine power.
Also available in the range is the technically advanced 2.0L TDCi diesel engine. This smooth engine works in conjunction with a 6-speed automatic transmission to deliver performance and fuel economy. Dual-clutch technology gives you the responsiveness of a manual with the ease of an automatic.

Lately, there has been a lot of discussion in the media around driving and mobile phone use. This is of course a serious issue and the Ford team can be justifiably proud of the SYNC™2 technology available with the Kuga range which mitigates the risk of an accident or a fine. Just say the word, SYNC™2  does the rest. Using simple voice commands you can make calls, play music, adjust interior climate controls, use satellite navigation, and even have text messages read aloud. SYNC™2, also includes an 8-inch colour touchscreen, a USB port, and Bluetooth connectivity.

In the event of a serious accident where your airbags are deployed, your fuel pump will be instantly shut down and if you’re in mobile range and your phone is paired with SYNC™2,  it will automatically call emergency services and supply GPS coordinates, saving you valuable seconds in these unforeseen circumstances.

My wife’s favourite feature is the Active Park Assist which is standard on the Titanium model. First it helps you find a parking spot that’s just the right fit. Then it virtually parallel parks itself. Put the car into reverse, take your hands off the wheel and watch it perfectly steer into a reverse park. All you have to do is work the accelerator and brake. Even if you are parking manually, it is a breeze with the reversing camera and sensors to help and the hill start assist is another comforting feature.

With the above mentioned features and many more available as standard or optional within the Kuga range your local Ford dealers have the ability to tailor a Ford Kuga to your needs and budget.

With all the sophisticated technology in the Ford Kuga range, it is a most relaxing and easy vehicle to operate, making the Kuga attractive for young and old alike.
