David Hasselhoff’s 1982 Pontiac Trans-Am sports model ‘KITT’ from the 80’s hit show Knight Rider may have cost US$100,000 to build (equivalent to about $250,000 in today’s terms). But you can get your very own modern day Kitt for a fraction of the price.

And did you know that David had to fake all the ‘smart’ Kitt stuff that made the car appear so amazing? Fast forward to 2016 and while the new Ford Everest Titanium can’t fight crime, it can talk to you, drive itself (while you steer) and take seven people places Kitt could only dream of.

Tough slopes couldn’t be easier in the new Everest. On the way up, Hill Launch Assist lets you climb with confidence, as this system makes it easier to pull away when your vehicle is on a slope without the need to use the parking brake. On the way down, Hill Descent Control uses the brake system to help you descend at a safe and steady pace. Simply take care of the steering and the Everest does the rest.  We’d like to see David’s Kitt do that!

With the Ford Everest Titanium, you get to say hello to luxury with an adventurous side. With seven comfortable seats, there’s plenty of room inside the Everest to teleport the whole family, team or whoever is on board for the ride in total comfort.

While you’re on your way, Ford Everest keeps the noise out and the good times in. Inspired by noise cancelling headphones, the Everest’s Active Noise Cancellation uses three highly sensitive microphones to detect and measure engine noise, then cancels it with opposing sound waves from the high fidelity sound system. Or simply pop on your fav tunes and blast the neighbourhood with superior sound. With a sound system this good, it would be rude not to share!

And then there is that gigantic electric panoramic sunroof comprising nearly 50% of the roof space. Enjoy the great outdoors even when you’re indoors and open up your world to experience life under the stars at the touch of a button. Meanwhile,  the 8-way power driver’s and passenger seats gives you premium comfort wherever you’re headed. Let’s pop out for coffee… in Kakadu!

Do you need help getting the perfect park? At the press of a button, Active Park Assist helps you find a parking spot that’s just the right fit, then virtually parallel parks the vehicle. Just push the button, put the vehicle into gear, take your hands off the wheel and watch it perfectly steer itself into your parking space. All you have to do is work the accelerator and brakes. Like a second set of eyes, the Cross-Traffic Alert will signal if there’s traffic coming from either direction when you’re reversing out of a parking spot or driveway. Crikey!

David Hasselhoff loved to chat with KITT, you will love to chat with SYNC™ 2 which is standard on both Trend and Titanium Ford Everest’s. With SYNC™ 2 your voice is in control – tell it what temperature you’d like your cabin. Voice Controlled Sat Nav, standard in Titanium and optional in Trend, helps you stay on track. Meanwhile, you also get visual feedback via a stunning 8-inch touch screen. What’s more the dual 4.2″ colour instrumentation display screens gives you everything from driving mode to fuel usage, all on low-glare, high-quality flat screens.

So… Adventure time! Got all that camping gear? Or maybe a soccer team onboard?  With the Ford Everest nothing need be left behind. The Everest’s interior is designed to get you and everything you need from A to B and cars don’t come much smarter!
