The first ever Ford Australia factory-built, factory warranted, off-road performance truck is on its way.
A Ranger built for people who care about how their ute looks, handles and the safety it can offer rather than just how many bags of cement you can load into the back of it. The Ranger Raptor is a new species on and off-road that has been designed and engineered from the ground up to meet strict Ford Performance DNA requirements. Re-engineered and strengthened with High Strength Low Alloy (HSLA) steel this beast is able to meet the tough demands that off-road performance driving commands. Uniquely designed to cater for the harsh Australian terrain and pothole-covered suburban roads these trucks are engineered and fully tested off-road performance vehicles. No other Australian production truck features Fox Racing Shox as standard equipment.
The Ranger Raptor’s race-bred suspension has been crafted to tackle the toughest terrains, bumps, and ruts. To make sure it meets each driver’s unique needs, the Terrain Management System (TMS) uses a button on the leather steering wheel to allow the car to switch between six different modes: Normal, Sport, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud/Sand, Rock, and the off-road racing inspired Baja mode. To make sure everyone knows that it is a Ford, the Ranger Raptor features a striking front grille that wears the Ford name large and proud. The styling team has also lent a hand to the front and rear bumpers, front bash plate, wider front, and rear guards and high-spec running boards to give the New Ford Raptor a look above its Ranger counterparts.
Naturally, the Raptor boasts a swag of super smart technology you expect in a ute of this level. Standard features include Driver Assist Technologies (DATs) with SYNC® 3 voice activation, Satellite Navigation, Electronic Stability Control (ESC),Trailer Sway Control (TSC), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Load Adaptive Control (LAC) , Lane Departure Warning (LDW) with Lane Keep Assist (LKA) and Roll Over Mitigation (ROM). The new Raptor also turns up the Nm of torque and kW. Ford’s latest technology 2.0L BiTurbo diesel engine generates 157kW of power and 500Nm of torque across a wide rev range by utilising a team of high and low-pressure turbos. These turbines can reliably spin at 240,000rpm by utilising high-tech Inconel, an alloy used in rocket engines. The Raptor’s 10-speed automatic is crafted from high-strength steel, aluminum alloys and composites to optimise durability and weight. This is the same system found in the Mustang GT and the 150 Raptor and was designed for responsiveness and efficiency. This state-of-the-art transmission features a “Live in Drive” function, meaning the Ranger Raptor’s magnesium paddle shifters are available whenever you feel the need to take over with manual gear changes.
The new Ford Raptor Ranger has been tested extensively in the harshest desert environments that Australia can offer and the potholes found on most rural country roads. This is the ute for anyone wanting maximum toughness and high-spec performance.
